Hi there, I'm Shandi.
I'm a designer passionate about understanding the people and environments I design for. As a self-taught designer, I firmly believe in "the power of yet and the tyranny of now", and I constantly strive for improvement.
Outside of my 9-to-5, I’m actively involved in the design community. I co-host events for a Designer Community supporting Hong Kong immigrants in Toronto, Canada, and I volunteer with the Service Design Network to help organise global design conferences.
When I'm not designing, I love connecting with nature, discovering beautiful sunset spots, and watching wildlife and health-related documentaries.

Building a Designer Community that supports Hong Kong immigrants in Toronto
The immigration journey can be challenging, but this community spreads the message that no one is alone. Since our first meetup in February 2023, the community has grown to 140 members.
As a co-host of our regular meetups, including workshops and picnics, I aim to create a safe space where participants, even those who are introverted, feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, feel heard, and feel included.
Hosting the Service Design Network Next Generation Conference 2024 LIVE.
I had the privilege of working alongside a global team of dedicated designers to create an impactful conference experience, promoting service design to over 200 participants from 44 countries.
I love adventures.
Through countless solo travels, I’ve become comfortable with uncertainty and learned to improvise when things don’t go as planned. (Some of these photos were captured with the help of my trusty tripod buddy!)
These adventures have also taught me to be humble and open-minded, while appreciating even the smallest things around me.
I flew around the world.
I embarked on an incredible journey as a flight attendant before transitioning into experience design.
As the problem-solver in an aircraft at 35,000 feet, I learned the value of teamwork, empathy, and problem-solving — skills that continue to guide me today.
